YouTube Data API key

Stored only in this browser (localStorage). Never sent to our servers.

Why is this key needed?

Fundstoff uses the official YouTube Data API to search for videos and tracks and to read metadata such as title, channel, duration, views and thumbnail. Google requires an API key for every request so it can attribute usage to a Google Cloud project and enforce daily quota. We don't run a shared backend key — you bring your own so your searches count against your own free quota, the key stays in your browser, and playback runs through the embedded YouTube player without extra cost.

How to get a key

  1. 1.Open the Google Cloud Console and create (or select) a project.
  2. 2.Go to YouTube Data API v3 and click Enable.
  3. 3.Open APIs & Services → Credentials, click Create credentials → API key, and copy the value (starts with AIza…).
  4. 4.Recommended: click Restrict key → under API restrictions choose YouTube Data API v3. This limits what the key can do.
  5. 5.Paste the key below and save.

Quota: Google gives 10,000 units/day per project. One search in Fundstoff costs about 101 units (~99 searches/day). Playing a video is free.

Serper.dev API key

For provider/web search (Google results). Stored only in your browser.

Why do you need this key?

To search for real providers (e.g. kitchen manufacturers, solar installers) Fundstoff uses Google search results via Serper.dev. So the cost stays with you, bring your own key — Serper offers 2,500 free searches as a welcome credit.

How to get a key

  1. 1.Open serper.dev and sign up with Google.
  2. 2.In the dashboard you'll find your API Key — copy it.
  3. 3.Paste below and save.

Cost: 2,500 searches free (one-time), then ~$1 per 1,000 searches. No subscription.
